In 2001 Volvo overhauled the 40 Series ("Phase II"), enabling various specialized enhancements, e.g., enhanced motor administration, steer (diesel) fuel infusion, auxiliary protection emphasizes, more imposing brake discs, brand new front suspension and directing, altered rear suspension, heftier tires and a broadening of the track width. A minor facelift gave more substantial headlights, more streamlining and more vast rear light groups too as minor instruments and belt re-outline.
